Iyer’s Pet Co was founded on decades of love, dedication, and expertise in handling and caring for animals—rooted in the extraordinary journey of our founder’s father, Shankar Narayan Iyer. With over 25 years as a celebrated animal handler in Indian and international cinema, he built his craft by working with an astonishing variety of creatures—from stray dogs and tigers to elephants, marmots, butterflies, and even rats. His remarkable dedication included learning animals’ habits intimately—for instance, staying with goats in his rented apartment until their schedule and bonding fitted the shoot’s demands
From handling 120 productions with his beloved labrador Tiger, through nurturing animals featured in Bollywood hits like Kaal and Kapoor & Sons, to sourcing elephants for Chinese historical films and spending nights catching hundreds of butterflies—Shankar’s devotion and resourcefulness remain the heart of our family’s legacy.
